Telangana News: The Telangana High court Justice issued a direction to multiple public authorities on the running of Pubs in twin cities. The order came to be passed in two petitions by Jubilee Hills Residents Clean and Green associations and B. Subhas Reddy and other residents of the Jubilee Hills Cooperative Housing Society, asking the Hyderabad Police Commissioner to take needful action against the pubs located around the Jubilee Hills.
However, after receiving the complaints of the petitioners, the pubs are running in violation of the right to live a peaceful life. So the Telangana High Court issued orders banning sounds from Hyderabad Pubs after 10 pm and said that no sound should be played in pubs and bars between 10 pm and 6 am from today itself.
According to the City Police Act and the Noise Pollution Regulation and Control Act, loudspeakers or Sound are allowed only up to the given limit time. The High Court has made it clear that no sound system will be allowed after these specified hours.
The high court seriously questioned how the pubs even were allowed in those places where the houses and educational institutions were under the Excise Rules. The Excise department was directly questioned on what basis the permission was granted to the pubs to operate in residential areas. The high court also ordered that the liquor should only be served at night in the pub.
The High court asked for a report on the number of pubs in the city and whether these pubs were given amusement licenses or not. The Police Commissioner is also required to include the parameters for the grant of such licenses. The judge also ordered the Excise Commissioner to file an independent report in which it is stating clearly whether granted liquor licenses include activities of a pub or only the sale of liquor. The GHMC is also required to submit its report on the grant of trade licenses to such retail outlets and the terms and Conditions of such licenses.
